Goleta Beach, Santa Barbara, CA
North of the hustle and bustle of Santa Barbara, Goleta Beach has all of the beauty of Central Coast with more of a local scene. Goleta Beach was granted to Santa Barbara County by the federal government in 1949, and beachgoers have been enjoying this little slice of California ever since. In addition to offering stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and the Channel Islands, Goleta Beach Park’s 29 acres has all of the things you and your family will need to have a perfect day basking in the California sunshine. Here is a list of things to take in and do when you are spending a day at Goleta Beach Park.
Whether you are an amateur fisherman or you have several Bass Master trophies displayed in your den, the Goleta Pier is the perfect place to spend an afternoon enjoying the beauty and the sound of the waves crashing on the beach. The pier, which is about 1,500 feet long, is great for fishing, evening family walks, and for boat launching (available on weekends and holidays when a park ranger is present).
One great part about being in Santa Barbara and Goleta is their love and appreciation of cyclists. There are bike paths and protected bike lanes in nearly every part of Santa Barbara and Goleta, which are wonderful ways to get some exercise and explore the cities on some of the most beautiful trails in the country. You can take the bike path directly to Goleta Beach Park, where there are plenty of bike racks to lock it up so you can go and enjoy the sand and surf after your ride.
Kayak, Surf, and SUP Rentals
How would a day at the beach be complete without getting into the water and experiencing it first hand? Paddle Sports Center at Goleta Beach offers kayak, surf, and and SUP (stand up paddle) rentals to beach goers who are looking for a day out on the waves. Paddle Sports Center offers memberships so that regular kayakers, surfers, and SUPers don’t have to carry or store bulky these bulky items in the garage or in a cramped apartment. In addition to providing the equipment, Paddle Sports Center offers lessons but also lets its members progress at their own pace. Paddle Sports Center also provides filtered water, towels, lockers, and a hot shower to its members. Appreciate the ocean in a completely new way by taking on a new water sport.
